Case Study – Gourmet Classic
Location: Ringwood, United Kingdom
The Challenge:
A tight delivery schedule to coincide with the building of a brand new facility in Ringwood, Hampshire along with clean accurate repeatable filling were the main requirements from the team at Gourmet Classic. Most of their products were being packed by subcontract suppliers and in a quest to improve quality and delivery to customers and to reduce costs, a new multi-million pound facility was built. One key area of the new facility was bottling cooking wines and patisserie glazes on one filling and capping line that could handle different bottle formats, free flowing and viscous liquids, and both ROPP and screw caps. Versatility was key.
Products to fill:
- Cooking Wine
- Patisserie Glaze
The Solution:
For smaller batches, Universal provided a Posifill V Twin semi-automatic liquid filling machine and bench mounted ROPP Capping Machine which provided the flexibility of being able to do short runs without interrupting production on the main bottling line.
For the main bottling line, Universal supplied a Posimatic EV1000 four head fully automatic filling machine with interchangeable rear filling chassis that would allow the customer to change over from one liquid to another without time-consuming clean-downs. The filling machine was supplied with pneumatic shut-off nozzles for drip free filling, along with a diving nozzle system to reduce air bubbles in the glazes. For capping, a Posicap capping system complete with both ROPP & screw capping heads was supplied, along with an automatic cap feeding, sorting and placing system.
