Case Study – Lashbrook Lassis
Location: Oxford, United Kingdom
The Challenge:
Following a trip to India, the founders of Lashbrook Lassis discovered the traditional lassi – a yoghurt-based drink. After learning the skills of how to cook the traditional lassis during their stay in India, the founders came back to England and moved into Lashbrook Farm in Oxfordshire. They began recreating their own versions of the Indian lassis. These proved so popular with friends and family that they began selling at local farmers markets.
Having no previous experience of production equipment, Lashbrook Lassis contacted Universal seeking an easy to use, economical, reliable and accurate solution for filling and cap tightening. The business was really taking off at this stage, and the customer was eager to move into full production, but needed a partner like Universal that would guide them through the process.
Products to fill:
- Beetroot, Fig and Cinnamon Yoghurt Drink
- Coffee, Pistachio and Cardamom Yoghurt Drink
- Pear, Spinach and Ginger Yoghurt Drink
The Solution:
Following detailed discussions and filling trials, Universal installed a single head Posifill EF semi-automatic volumetric filling machine at the customer’s new production facility. The Posifill EF is a simple to set up, easy to use, reliable and very accurate volumetric filling machine. The model proved to be the ideal solution, as the founders had no previous experience of filling machinery.
For capping, the Universal Hand Capper fitted with an Anti RSI Support Arm provided the perfect solution for the client’s pre-threaded screw caps.
A Universal Service Engineer visited the client’s location to install the equipment and provide operator training, and the following day they were in full production!
Other alternatives:
The twin head Posifill V Twin would also have been suitable for filling this range of products and providing faster filling speeds if they had been required.
