Case Study – Amphora Aromatics

Amphora Aromatics is one of the UK’s largest suppliers of pure essential oils and aromatherapy products. The company has spent more than 25 years sourcing the highest quality ingredients from across the globe.

Location: Bristol, United Kingdom

The Challenge:

Amphora Aromatics fills a wide range of liquids from free flowing floral waters through to viscous creams and gels into a wide range of bottle and container sizes, so flexibility was an important factor. Amphora Aromatics had been using a number of small filling machines as well as having some products packed by sub-contractors, which was time-consuming and expensive, so they wanted to automate what they could and bring most of the production in-house.

Some of the liquids being filled are flammable, so ATEX certification for use in potentially explosive atmospheres was also a requirement.

The Solution:

To accommodate the wide range of liquids, Universal Filling Machine Company supplied the client with a Voluvac liquid filling machine. This unique machine combines Universal’s Posivac filling system for vacuum level filling of free flowing liquids, such as the floral waters, with a Posimatic EV1000 volumetric filling machine for the more viscous liquids. Cap tightening is done using Universal’s Posicap cap tightening machine, before transferring through a Herma labelling machine.

With expansion into new markets and growing demand automation has allowed Amphora Aromatics to keep up with this increasing demand. The Universal Filling Capping machines have played a major part in this. Universal have also helped with additions and modifications to other manufacturers’ machines on site as Universal are able to manufacture new parts quicker than the other OEM’s
