Specialist Liquid Filling Machines for Challenging & Specialist Applications
When your product presents a challenge, the filling machine needs to be specified around the liquid — not the other way around.
Some liquids can be filled with standard equipment. Others require much more careful consideration of the product, container, materials of construction and production requirements.
Universal Filling Machine Company designs and manufactures liquid filling machines for demanding applications including corrosive chemicals, flammable solvents, detergents, adhesives, lubricants and other difficult-to-fill liquids.
From semi-automatic machines for smaller production runs to fully automatic filling systems for higher-volume production, we can help you identify the most appropriate solution for your product.
Filling Difficult Liquids Requires the Right Approach
Not every liquid behaves in the same way during filling.
A product may be corrosive, flammable, volatile, viscous or prone to foaming. The container itself may also present challenges, particularly where it is flexible, unusually shaped or too large to handle comfortably.
These factors can influence the filling technology, materials, seals, hoses, valves and nozzle arrangement required.
Foaming Products
Some liquids can foam during filling, affecting accuracy, production speed and container presentation. The filling method and nozzle arrangement may need to be selected accordingly.
Specialist Material Requirements
Some products are incompatible with conventional stainless-steel contact parts. Alternative materials can be selected for components that come into contact with the product.
Large or Awkward Containers
Larger or unusually shaped containers can create additional handling challenges. Filling equipment can be configured to suit different container sizes and production requirements.
The starting point is therefore not the machine. It is the product.
What Makes a Liquid Difficult to Fill?
Corrosive & Aggressive Liquids
Can attack conventional machine materials and components, requiring careful selection of product-contact materials, seals and other components..
Flammable & Volatile Liquids
Can present fire, evaporation and vapour hazards, requiring appropriate filling methods and, where necessary, specialist ATEX-compliant equipment.
Detergents & Cleaning Products
Can foam excessively during filling or contain aggressive chemicals, affecting filling speed, accuracy and the materials used within the machine.
Viscous & Difficult-Flowing Products
Can flow slowly or inconsistently, making accurate and efficient filling more difficult and requiring equipment suited to the product’s characteristics.
Industrial & Agricultural Chemicals
Can vary considerably in chemical composition and behaviour, requiring filling equipment and materials selected specifically for the product being handled.
Large Containers & Industrial Fill Volumes
Larger containers and higher production volumes can create additional filling and handling challenges, requiring appropriately sized equipment and automation.
One Machine Does Not Suit Every Liquid
The correct filling machine depends on more than the required fill volume.
When specifying equipment, we consider factors such as:
The liquid or liquids being filled
Chemical compatibility
Viscosity and flow characteristics
Whether the product is flammable or volatile
Container material, size and shape
Required fill volume
Production requirements
The level of automation required
Whether the machine needs to accommodate more than one product
This allows the filling system to be configured around the application rather than forcing the application to fit a standard machine.
The Right Machine. The Right Materials. The Right Specification.
Universal’s sales and engineering teams work together to understand the product and production requirements before recommending a machine.
Depending on the application, this may involve selecting appropriate hoses, seals, valves, cylinders, nozzles and other product-contact components.
For demanding chemical applications, we can specify machines using materials appropriate to the liquid being filled. For flammable applications, ATEX-compliant configurations are available where required.
The result is a filling machine designed for the product you actually need to fill.
Filling Solutons for Specialist Applications
From semi-automatic machines for smaller production requirements to fully automatic systems for higher-volume applications,
Universal offers filling solutions configured around your product and production needs.
PB5000
Semi-Automatic Volumetric Filling Machine
A flexible solution for larger containers and demanding liquid applications, the PB5000 handles fill volumes from 500ml to 5 litres. Constructed with glass cylinders and PVC pistons and valves, it is particularly suited to aggressive liquids such as bleach, sodium hypochlorite and alkalis.
P5000
Semi-Automatic Volumetric Filling Machine
Designed for larger containers and a wide range of liquid products, the P5000 is constructed using food and pharmaceutical-grade 316 stainless steel. It is well suited to products including oils, lubricants, detergents, shampoos and other free-flowing liquids.
Posimatic EV
Semi-Automatic Volumetric Filling Machine
For higher production requirements, the Posimatic EV range is available in 1-litre, 2.5-litre and 5-litre formats. Product-contact parts can be specified in either stainless steel or glass and PVC, allowing the machine to be configured for a wide range of liquid products.
Specialist Filling Solutions Configured Around Your Application
Some products require a more specialised approach. Universal can configure filling equipment around demanding applications, including specialist product-contact materials, unusual containers and specific production requirements.
